"Governments are instituted among men, deriving their
just powers from the consent of the governed"
This short phrase is included in our Declaration of Independence and it's basic meaning
is that people are not meant to serve the government, it is the governments job to serve the people. Unfortunately this core
principle, upon which the very foundation of our country is laid, seems to have been forgotten by some of our leaders over
the past 230+ years.
By signing the Declaration
of Independence, our Founding Fathers put their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honors on the line to fight for what
they proclaimed to be their unalienable rights endowed by their Creator. When elected officials fail to keep
this most basic principle of our country, they have failed not only the people they represent, but also those brave individuals
that fought to give us this great country that we live in today.
As an elected official, you may
rest assured that I will never forget that you are the boss. I am honored to represent the citizens of Milwaukee County, and
every decision I make will be based on what my constituents tell me is important. I am working for you, and I will not forget
it.
